OpenSolaris Community Day | installFest

Friday, July 30, 2010

In partnership with the Philippine Society of Information Technology Students (PSITS)-COMTECH Chapter, a two-part OpenSolaris Installfest event kicks in on August 7, 2010 right at the Creative Technologies and Convergence Center, COMTECH INSTITUTE. This is a campus-wide event inviting all IT students and enthusiasts to have fun deploying Opensolaris Operating System via VirtualBox.

The event aims to showoff demo skills from students in a peer-mentoring scheme as duly supervised by instructors. Further, we aim to promote in general, the FOSS awareness and enhance student skills and exposures in virtualization. The participants will come to hear and see the best of OpenSolaris features from easy installation and usability high points.

The event is just one of the series intended for students and to roll out fully this year. We are thankful for our sponsors and for the committee members behind this event. Each student participant will receive an OpenSolaris LiveCD, hand-outs and other promotional materials. Join us!

Just Be Yourself

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

There's a kind of night when one indulges in the joy of looking at photographs. Photography has been an outlet for me lately. Call it narcissistic tendencies for who cares. I bet almost all humans have that need. Blame it on whoever invented the camera. hahahaha. It serves its purpose best in moments like this, you see.

So there i was, on a carefree night near the seashore. Everyone's having a share of the JEDI Night 2010. This happened just late February and undeniably - it was my first time in Panglao Island, Bohol.

Bohol - the land of my maternal grandparents.

I cannot imagine a pure reason other than that of narcissistic pursuits, as to why i am sharing this photo tonight. Perhaps because this reminds me of a gleeful, carefree night spent with new friends, new thoughts and new blood to blend with. More than anything else, i must say, this tells me enough of myself when once in a blue moon we let our guards down. Just enjoy what life abounds and simply radiate the blessings from inside - share genuine friendship, share true moments. After all, times like this comes not everyday. God Bless!

Installing OpenSolaris

Sunday, April 18, 2010

i am exploring a couple of operating systems. Opensolaris is one of those. it is flexible too but i still heart Ubuntu particularly on the network interoperability. i guess because i have not stretch yet that far how solaris would handle my desired settings. i invite you to try installing it using virtualbox. explore more. it is sure fun to learn something new ;)

Reset Your Ubuntu Password
Reboot your computer, and then as soon as you see the GRUB Loading screen, make sure to hit the ESC key so that you can get to the menu.

Root Shell – Easy Method
If you have the option, you can choose the “recovery mode” item on the menu, usually found right below your default kernel option.

BLIND by lifehouse

I was young but I wasn't naive
I watched helpless as he turned around to leave
and still I have the pain I have to carry
a past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried

after all this time
I never thought we'd be here
never thought we'd be here
when my love for you was blind
but I couldn't make you see it
couldn't make you see it
that I loved you more than you'll ever know
a part of me died when I let you go

I would fall asleep
only in hopes of dreaming
that everything would be like is was before
but nights like this it seems are slowly fleeting
they disappear as reality is crashing to the floor

after all this time
I never thought we'd be here
never thought we'd be here
when my love for you was blind
but I couldn't make you see it
couldn't make you see it
that I loved you more than you'll ever know
a part of me died when I let you go

after all this time
would you ever wanna leave it
maybe you could not believe it
that my love for you was blind
but I couldn't make you see it
couldn't make you see it
that I loved you more than you will ever know
a part of me died when I let you go
and I loved you more than you'll ever know
a part of me dies when I let you go

Tagbilaran City, Bohol | Inch by Inch

Friday, March 12, 2010

Bohol is one memorable trip.
Bohol is the official venue of NCITE 2010 and it is also the place where my grandparents grew up.

I am on my second month of Java Training for Programming NC IV and i am fortunate that I am able to fix schedule to make way for this trip. A friend egged me to attend the event together with them to represent the region; well, not knowing I have to look forward to something bigger during the trip other than representing Region IX. I did not know until JEDI Night that I will be awarded! JEDI Philippines recognized my efforts and recognized me as one of the JEDI Trainers in the Philippines.
